Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has revealed the amusing trick he uses to ensure his wife, veteran actress and Rajya Sabha MP Jaya Bachchan, is ready on time when they have to attend weddings or other events.
The revelation came during an episode of the popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati, when contestant Vijay Laxmi asked Amitabh whether he ever has to wait for his wife to get ready before heading out for a function.
Big B responded by explaining his tried-and-tested strategy: he tells Jaya that they need to reach the venue earlier than the actual scheduled time.
“Aapko ek tarkeeb batata hoon. Kahin jana hota hai na toh uska ek samay nirdharit kiya jaata hai… main unko kehta hoon baarat joh hai 5 baje aane wali hai,” he said.
He explained that if they actually needed to reach a wedding by 6 p.m., he would tell Jaya that the wedding procession was expected at 5 p.m. This prompted her to begin getting ready around 3:30 or 4 p.m., allowing them to leave and arrive on time.
The light-hearted anecdote offered a glimpse into the couple’s long-standing relationship and Amitabh’s practical approach to managing event schedules.
Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan have been married for more than five decades. They have two children, actor Abhishek Bachchan and author-designer Shweta Bachchan Nanda.
