Instagram creator and biker Sia has rejected the version of events given by Kalyan Bainsla, who is accused of hitting her motorcycle with a car on Golf Course Road in Gurugram, saying videos of the incident contradict his account.
In a nearly three-minute social media video, Sia responded to Bainsla’s interview with a reporter and questioned his claim that he felt “sorry” for her following the incident.
Bainsla had reportedly said he did not know whether the rider was a man or a woman and suggested that only one side of the incident had been presented. He also questioned why videos involving one of Sia’s male friends had not surfaced.
“If you felt so sorry for me, then why didn’t you stop? I could have died on the spot,” Sia said.
She challenged Bainsla’s claim that the bikers had repeatedly accelerated and slowed down, saying footage showed the car attempting to corner them.
“He is saying that we were repeatedly speeding up and slowing down on the road. But my video clearly shows who was actually trying to corner whom,” she said.
Sia also questioned why the occupants allegedly continued following the bikers if they believed the riders were behaving improperly.
“If you felt we were speeding up and slowing down repeatedly, then what was the reason for chasing me throughout the route?” she asked.
She rejected Bainsla’s claim that he was unaware a woman was riding the motorcycle, alleging that he had come close to her, seen her hair, made gestures and signalled for her to stop.
Sia said one video showed the car moving towards the third lane before hitting her motorcycle and leaving the scene, while another recording from her own camera allegedly captured the car moving across lanes, striking and dragging her bike before she fell onto the road.
She said the incident could have resulted in broken bones or even death and criticised what she described as a later “display of sympathy” despite the alleged failure to stop and check on her.
Sia alleged that she was riding her Aprilia RS 457 with a group of bikers on September 13 when a white car began following them on Golf Course Road. In her complaint to Gurugram Police, she alleged that the occupants appeared intoxicated and repeatedly attempted to harass and stop her.
She further alleged that the car eventually crossed her path and struck her motorcycle, dragging it for nearly 300 metres before the occupants fled. Her friends reportedly chased the vehicle but could not stop it.
Sia has sought strict action against those involved. Her brother said she escaped serious injuries but is experiencing severe muscle pain, body aches and abrasions. Police are proceeding with an FIR that includes allegations of harassment, attempt to murder and hit-and-run.
Sia also said incidents of this nature contribute to women feeling unsafe on roads in Delhi and Gurugram, urging greater accountability for such behaviour.
