Actor Sooraj Pancholi has broken his silence after his name resurfaced in the renewed investigation into the death of celebrity manager Disha Salian, saying he has been dragged into the controversy despite having no connection to her or the case.
In a detailed statement on social media, Pancholi said he had remained silent for several years because he did not want to respond to every report about him. However, he said repeated references to his name had prompted him to place “certain facts clearly in the public domain”.
Pancholi categorically said he had never met Salian, either directly or indirectly, and had also never met Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray.
“It is honestly very unfair and extremely upsetting to see my name being dragged into something that I have absolutely nothing to do with, especially when there is no evidence or proof connecting me to this matter,” he said.
The actor said he had already been questioned by the CBI and police, with his statement recorded around four to five years ago. He added that he remained willing to cooperate with investigating agencies if they required further information.
“I HAVE NOTHING TO HIDE!” Pancholi said, while expressing support for a fair and thorough CBI investigation into the circumstances surrounding Salian’s death.
He also called for an investigation into what he described as “malicious propaganda and false narratives” surrounding the case, stressing that allegations should not be treated as facts without evidence.
“A headline is not evidence. A debate is not evidence. Someone saying something on television does not make it a fact,” Pancholi said, urging people to verify information before forming opinions about an individual’s character.
“I have faith in the law. I have faith in the investigating agencies. And I have faith that ultimately, the truth will come out,” he added.
Salian, who had worked as actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s manager, died in June 2020, shortly before Rajput’s death. The renewed probe follows a petition by her father, Satish Salian, and a September 2 Bombay High Court order directing the CBI to investigate all aspects surrounding the circumstances of her death.
Pancholi, Aaditya Thackeray, Dino Morea and Rhea Chakraborty are among the names that have featured in the renewed public discussion around the case. The allegations and claims remain subject to investigation and due process.
