Riyadh, September 14, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Consul General of India in Jeddah Fahad Suri visited Indian nationals undergoing treatment at a hospital in Jeddah after they were injured in recent incidents in Saudi Arabia’s Jazan region.

Suri met the injured Indians at Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital, enquired about their health and well-being, and assured them of the Consulate’s full support and assistance.

The Consulate General of India in Jeddah said in a post on X that it remains in close contact with hospital authorities, the affected nationals and their family members.

The visit followed reports of multiple ballistic missile and drone attacks by the Houthi group targeting Saudi cities, including Khamis Mushait, Abha and Jazan.

Turki Al-Maliki, spokesperson for the Saudi-led coalition supporting Yemen’s internationally recognised government, said the Houthis were continuing attacks on Saudi national assets and infrastructure and accused the group of targeting civilians.

India had condemned the attacks on Saudi Arabia on September 9, particularly those targeting civilian and economic facilities.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said such attacks undermine regional security and stability and threaten freedom of navigation in the Bab-el-Mandeb, calling them “unacceptable”.

The Consul General’s visit comes amid continued high-level India-Saudi engagement. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud in New Delhi on Sunday on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit. The two discussed regional and global developments as well as ways to advance bilateral cooperation.

Last week, Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Vipul also met Saudi Assistant Minister of Defence Khaled bin Hussain Al Biyari in Riyadh. The two sides discussed defence cooperation and regional developments, reaffirming their commitment to further strengthening the strategic partnership.

Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh was also on an official visit to Saudi Arabia from September 5 to 8.
