Bollywood actor Salman Khan recently recalled his time in Jodhpur Central Jail and spoke about the difficult conditions he experienced during his periods of incarceration.
In a promotional clip from the streaming reality show ‘Alliance’, where Salman visited his brother Sohail Khan, the actor shared memories of his stay in prison while interacting with contestants.
Recalling the conditions inside the jail, Salman said there were many prisoners confined to a small space with limited facilities. He described the lack of privacy, shared sanitation facilities and other challenges faced by inmates.
Salman was lodged in Jodhpur Central Jail in Rajasthan on four occasions between 1998 and 2018 in connection with cases related to the alleged poaching of blackbuck and chinkara.
The case dates back to October 1998, when allegations of illegal hunting of two endangered blackbucks were made during the shooting of the film ‘Hum Saath-Saath Hain’ near Jodhpur. The incident drew strong reactions from the Bishnoi community, which considers the blackbuck sacred.
The matter has also been linked to repeated threats issued against Salman by gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
During his recent appearance on ‘Alliance’, Salman visited Sohail Khan, who is participating in the reality show as a wildcard contestant along with his former wife Seema Sajdeh. Salman’s visit came after an emotional episode in which Sohail expressed disappointment following Seema’s elimination from the competition.
