Ram Kapoor Opens Up About Estranged Family Ties After Revealing Emotional Chapter With Father

Mumbai, July 28, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Television actor Ram Kapoor made an emotional revelation on the reality show Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa, sharing details about his complicated relationship with his late father and revealing that his mother and sister have not spoken to him for more than five years.

During the episode, after the keyword “Father” appeared on screen, Ram opened up about a deeply personal experience involving his father’s final days. He said he had helped his father during a difficult phase when the latter was battling cancer and had expressed a desire to end his life.

Ram revealed that he had always shared a strained relationship with his father while growing up. He said his father was a wealthy businessman, but he chose to pursue acting instead of joining the family business, leading him to live separately and follow his own path.

Recalling the period during the Covid-19 pandemic, Ram said his father’s cancer returned and he contacted his wife, Gautami Kapoor, expressing his wish to speak with him. According to Ram, his father had decided he did not want to continue living but was afraid of taking that step alone.

Ram said his father eventually asked him whether he could help him die, a request that left him shocked initially. However, he said his father convinced him that he needed his support and did not want to face the situation alone.

The actor shared that he remained by his father’s side in the ICU until the end and followed his wishes regarding his funeral arrangements. He said his father wanted a dignified farewell and did not want people to cry after his death.

Ram said the decision deeply affected his relationship with his family, adding that his mother and sister have not spoken to him since then. However, he described being with his father during his final moments as one of the most meaningful things he had done for a parent.

He also said the experience brought him closer to understanding death and that he no longer fears it after witnessing it so closely.
