India’s 15-year-old speed climbing talent Amieyra Khoslla created history at the IFSC World Youth Climbing Championships 2026 in Arco, Italy, by setting a new Indian National Youth Record and finishing sixth in the world.
Amieyra clocked an impressive 7.60 seconds in the finals of the speed climbing event, improving her own personal best twice during the championship. She had earlier recorded 7.74 seconds in the qualification round before producing an even faster performance in the final.
Her achievement marked one of the strongest performances by an Indian athlete at the World Youth Championships and highlighted the growing presence of Indian sport climbing on the international stage.
Expressing her happiness after the milestone, Amieyra said representing India at the global event was among the proudest moments of her career. She added that breaking the national youth record and competing successfully against the world’s best young climbers had given her confidence for future challenges.
The Indian team at the championship also featured Shlok Dadukar, Neil Warke and Rudra Karandikar. Dadukar finished 27th with a timing of 6.76 seconds, while Warke secured 35th position after clocking 7.33 seconds. Karandikar ended his campaign in 44th place with a timing of 8.47 seconds.
International speed climbing coach Albert Ok praised Amieyra’s rapid progress, describing her performance as a reflection of her talent, discipline and determination. He said the young climber has the potential to inspire the next generation of Indian athletes.
Amieyra’s personal coach Abhishek Mehta also highlighted her years of hard work and commitment behind the achievement.
Apart from climbing, Amieyra has also made her mark in athletics. She won silver in the 100 metres at the SGFI National School Games 2024, finished fifth in the 60 metres at the Junior National Athletics Championships 2025, and has been Delhi State Champion in the 60 metres for three consecutive years from 2024 to 2026.
