The Premier League on Thursday announced the nominees for its Player of the Month and Manager of the Month awards for August 2026, recognising standout performances from the opening two matches of the 2026-27 season.
Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes, Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori, Manchester City’s Rayan Cherki, Chelsea duo Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro, Brentford’s Mamadou Sangare, Hull City goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis and Newcastle United forward Yoane Wissa have been nominated for the Player of the Month award.
Fernandes has emerged as one of the early stars of the season after scoring a hat-trick and providing an assist in Manchester United’s 5-2 win over Ipswich Town. He completed his hat-trick in 28 minutes before setting up Bryan Mbuemo for an 82nd-minute goal at Old Trafford.
Calafiori has impressed at both ends of the pitch, providing two assists while making important defensive contributions. He assisted Kai Havertz in Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Coventry before setting up Bukayo Saka in their 1-0 victory against Aston Villa.
Cherki has made a strong start for Manchester City, registering two goals and two assists. He created two goals in the comeback win over AFC Bournemouth before scoring twice against Crystal Palace.
Palmer has contributed two goals and an assist as Chelsea won both of their opening matches. He scored against Brighton and Fulham and provided an assist against Fulham.
Joao Pedro has also scored twice and assisted twice. He scored inside the first minute against Fulham before setting up Palmer, and then scored and assisted again against former club Brighton.
Tzolakis has helped Hull City win both matches while keeping two clean sheets. He made five saves in a historic victory over Manchester United and also kept a clean sheet against Coventry.
Sangare has been influential in Brentford’s midfield, providing one assist and making key defensive contributions, while Wissa has adapted to both the No. 10 and striker roles for Newcastle, scoring once and providing an assist.
For the Manager of the Month award, Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta, Chelsea’s Xabi Alonso, Manchester City’s Enzo Maresca and Hull City’s Sergej Jakirovic have been nominated after guiding their respective teams to strong starts.
