The Central Library of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda, organised a book exhibition at the university’s Reading Hall on Thursday to promote reading habits among students and faculty members and encourage greater engagement with books and literature.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, Vice Chancellor, MRSPTU. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Sharma emphasised the importance of books in the overall development of students. He said reading not only enhances knowledge but also helps develop critical thinking, creativity, intellectual abilities and personality. He encouraged students to make reading a regular part of their lives.
A wide range of books covering diverse subjects and genres in Punjabi, Hindi and English were displayed at the exhibition. Students participated enthusiastically and showed keen interest in the books, while the event also received an encouraging response from faculty members.
Dr. Iqbal Singh Brar, University Librarian, expressed gratitude to the Vice Chancellor, faculty members and students for their support and participation. He said book exhibitions play an important role in developing reading habits among students and introducing them to new books, authors and areas of literature and knowledge.
Dr. Malkit Singh, Assistant Librarian, along with Mr. Rajan Bansal, Navsatinder Singh, Ramandeep Rani, Gurwinder Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Heema and Amritpal Singh, contributed to the successful organisation of the event.
