The Gujarat Police State Monitoring Cell (SMC) has raided four spas and a guesthouse in Mehsana district over alleged prostitution activities being operated under the guise of spa and guesthouse services, arresting seven people and naming six others as wanted accused, officials said on Thursday.
The raids were conducted at five establishments under the jurisdiction of Mehsana Taluka Police Station. Police alleged that women were being kept at the premises after customers offered them financial benefits and that the spas were being used for prostitution.
Property worth a total of Rs 2,17,100 was seized during the operations. Cases have been registered under various provisions of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
At Apple One Spa on Mehsana-Nugar Bypass Road, police arrested manager Lokesh Patidar, a resident of Rajasthan. Two mobile phones and Rs 3,700 in cash were seized, with the total value of the seized property put at Rs 13,700.
At The Moon Light Spa near Panchot Bridge, manager Akash Ramavat of Rajasthan was arrested. Police seized a mobile phone, DVR, 10 condoms, a register and Rs 2,000 in cash. Spa partners Tejaskumar Raval and Hasina Abad Raun of Mumbai were named as wanted accused.
Two people, Sunil Thakor of Patan and Rohitsinh Parmar of Mehsana, were arrested during the raid at Golden Spa. Police seized three mobile phones, two rent agreements, five condoms, visiting cards, cash and other articles worth Rs 63,000. Poonam Raval of Patan was named as a wanted accused.
At The Luxury Beauty and Spa, police arrested operator Ajaykumar Prajapati of Patan and seized two mobile phones, a pen drive, two condoms, cash and other property worth Rs 84,900. Yash Raval of Mehsana was named as a wanted accused.
The fifth raid was conducted at Hotel Madhuvan Guest House near Nugar Circle. Two persons, Lalsinh Prithvisinh Rav and Vishal Rameshwar Joshi, both originally from Dungarpur in Rajasthan, were arrested. Police seized four mobile phones, 35 condoms, a DVR, a register, cash and other property valued at Rs 48,500. Arvind Patidar and Vejji Patidar, both from Dungarpur, were named as wanted accused.
The SMC said its teams regularly conduct operations against illegal activities across Gujarat. Investigations into the cases are continuing.
