SGPC Chief Secretary Kulwant Singh Mannan Condemns Gutka Sahib Desecration at Sri Darbar Sahib Complex

Amritsar, September 3, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) Chief Secretary Kulwant Singh Mannan has strongly condemned the alleged desecration of the sacred Gutka Sahib at the Sri Darbar Sahib complex.

Mannan said Gurbani provides spiritual guidance and meaning to human life, but incidents involving the desecration of sacred scriptures hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community. He said the latest incident involved a man allegedly tying a page from Gutka Sahib to the palla of a woman who had come to the gurdwara to pay obeisance.

He termed the incident inside the Guru Ghar particularly concerning and said incidents of alleged Gurbani desecration had continued to occur. Mannan questioned why, even after accused persons are apprehended, those allegedly behind such acts are not brought to light.

He said the accused in the latest incident had been handed over to the police by the SGPC. Mannan urged the police administration to treat the matter with seriousness and take strict legal action against the accused.

He also called for an investigation into whether others were involved in planning or facilitating the incident and urged the authorities to identify and bring those responsible to justice.
