Bikaner Congress Assault Case: Mahila Congress Chief Named in Complaint, Two Suspended for Six Years

Jaipur, September 3, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The assault on Bikaner City Congress District President Madan Gopal Meghwal has taken a fresh turn, with the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) suspending a father-son duo from the party for six years and ordering an inquiry into the alleged involvement of Bikaner City Mahila Congress president Shashikala Rathore.

The incident took place on Wednesday during the inauguration of an election office in Ward No. 50 of the Bikaner Municipal Corporation, where Meghwal was present as the chief guest. A verbal altercation reportedly broke out among local Congress leaders and workers before escalating into a physical confrontation in which Meghwal was allegedly assaulted.

Other senior leaders and party workers present at the venue intervened and brought the situation under control. Videos purportedly showing the incident have also surfaced on social media and are being widely circulated.

The party has taken disciplinary action against the father-son duo accused in connection with the assault, suspending both from the Congress for six years with immediate effect.

The controversy deepened after Meghwal submitted a written complaint alleging that Shashikala Rathore was linked to the alleged conspiracy behind the incident. The allegation has not been established, and Rathore has not publicly responded to it so far.

Following the complaint, the Rajasthan PCC directed State Mahila Congress president Sarika Singh to conduct a detailed inquiry into Rathore’s alleged role and submit a report to the PCC headquarters within two days. Any further action against Rathore is expected to depend on the findings of the inquiry.

Rathore has been associated with the Congress organisation in Bikaner for several years. Before becoming president of the Bikaner City Mahila Congress, she served as president of the Bikaner Dehat Mahila Congress.

She was appointed Bikaner City Mahila Congress president by Sarika Singh during an organisational reshuffle in July 2025 and formally assumed charge in September 2025 at the Nari Nyay Sammelan. She has participated in party programmes and protests concerning inflation, women’s reservation and local issues.

With the inquiry underway, the report is expected to clarify the circumstances surrounding the allegations and determine the next course of action for the Congress in Bikaner.
