The year-long celebrations being organised by the Punjab Government to mark the 650th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji have created a positive and spiritual atmosphere among devotees, Punjab Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond said on Thursday.
Sond said 92 special drone shows are being organised across Punjab as part of the celebrations, with the Patiala district programme beginning on September 10. More than 500 drones will take to the sky simultaneously to depict the life, Bani and teachings of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji through digital technology.
The Minister chaired a high-level meeting at the District Administrative Complex in Patiala with Deputy Commissioners and civil and police officials from Patiala, Sangrur, Barnala and Malerkotla to review arrangements for the drone shows and Shobha Yatras. He directed officials to complete all preparations well in advance and ensure maximum participation of devotees.
Deputy Commissioner Dr Himanshu Agarwal assured that all arrangements would be completed on time and the programmes would be conducted successfully.
Sond said a range of religious, cultural and educational programmes are also being organised across the state, including Kirtan Darbars, seminars, school-level competitions and screenings of a documentary on the life and teachings of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji.
He said each 25–30-minute drone show would feature more than 500 drones, while a one-hour Gurbani Kirtan programme would precede the presentation.
In Patiala district, the drone shows will be held at Patran Grain Market on September 9, Grain Market, Sirhind Road, on September 10, Polo Ground on September 11, and Ripudaman College, Nabha, and Grain Market, Rajpura, on September 12.
The Minister said four Shobha Yatras would be taken out in November from Varanasi, Jammu, Bathinda and Faridkot, culminating at the holy site of Khuralgarh Sahib. The Bathinda Shobha Yatra will have a night halt at Patiala.
He added that a three-day concluding programme would be organised at Khuralgarh Sahib in December. The celebrations, planned in consultation with and under the guidance of the Sant Samaj, reflect the Punjab Government’s respect and devotion towards Sri Guru Ravidas Ji, he said.
Advisor to the Punjab Tourism and Heritage Promotion Board Deepak Bali, MLAs Ajitpal Singh Kohli, Prof Kulwant Singh Gajjanmajra and Kulwant Singh Bazigar, Gurpreet Singh GP and other senior officials attended the meeting.
