Actor Nitish Sharma has described his role as Shatrughan, the youngest son of King Dasharatha, in director Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming film Ramayana as a “divine blessing”, saying the opportunity came to him at a significant moment in his life.
Recalling how he received the role, Nitish said the news felt like a matter of destiny. He revealed that the offer arrived during one of the most challenging phases of his personal and professional journey.
“The call came during one of the most difficult phases of my life. Professionally, I had just gone through a major disappointment, and I was trying to find peace by reading the Ramcharitmanas. It was during that very moment that I received the call for Ramayan. Honestly, it felt like a divine blessing and a reminder that Lord Ram always has a bigger plan for us,” Nitish said.
The actor added that portraying a character from the revered epic carries a deep sense of responsibility and cannot be approached as just another acting assignment.
Expressing gratitude to the makers for trusting him with the role, Nitish said, “My first emotion was pure gratitude. I am deeply thankful to our casting director, Mukesh Chhabra sir, our producer, Namit Malhotra sir, and our director, Nitesh Tiwari sir, for believing in me and trusting me with the responsibility of playing Shatrughan.”
He said being part of Ramayana is an honour and a privilege that he will always cherish.
Nitish further shared that he is working extensively to portray Shatrughan, known as a quiet and loyal brother in the epic, with sincerity and dedication.
“Along with the excitement came a deep sense of responsibility. I knew I had to give this character everything I had,” he said.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The film’s ensemble cast also includes Lara Dutta, Ravi Dubey, Arun Govil, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Indira Krishnan and Vivek Oberoi.
