Sri Lanka have announced a 15-member squad for their upcoming three-match T20I series against Pakistan, with Kusal Mendis appointed captain for the opening leg of the multi-format tour, scheduled to begin on October 9.
All three T20I matches will be played in Rawalpindi on October 9, 11 and 13. The T20I series will be followed by a five-match ODI tri-series involving Pakistan, Sri Lanka and England, before the teams conclude the tour with a two-match Test series against Pakistan.
The tour is scheduled to run until November 21, with the Test matches forming part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27.
Mendis will lead a batting unit featuring Kamil Mishara, Sineth Jayawardena, Lahiru Udara, Sahan Arachchige, Kamindu Mendis and Dasun Shanaka, while Chamindu Wickramasinghe adds further depth to the squad.
The Sri Lankan skipper heads into the series following an impressive tour of England, where he scored 198 runs in three outings, including a century. His highest score was 121 in the second ODI.
Sahan Arachchige, Sineth Jayawardena and Vijayakanth Viyaskanth are also part of Sri Lanka’s Asian Games contingent, which is scheduled to compete in a bronze-medal match on October 3.
Sri Lanka’s spin department will be led by Dunith Wellalage and Maheesh Theekshana, alongside Viyaskanth. The pace attack includes Dushmantha Chameera, Binura Fernando, Nuwan Thushara and Eshan Malinga.
Asitha Fernando, who claimed seven wickets to finish as Sri Lanka’s leading wicket-taker in the ODI series against England, is not included in the T20I squad.
Sri Lanka will be without Pathum Nissanka and Wanindu Hasaranga, who have been ruled out of the T20I series due to injuries. Both players could return for the ODI tri-series, subject to fitness clearances.
