Members of the Kashmiri diaspora in Norway staged a demonstration outside the Norwegian Parliament on Wednesday, condemning what they described as killings and alleged human rights violations by Pakistani security forces in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
The protesters raised slogans against Pakistani forces and expressed solidarity with the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), while demanding an end to security operations in the region.
Sharing visuals of the demonstration on X, the JAAC said overseas Kashmiris were demanding implementation of the October 4, 2025 agreement reached between the Pakistan government, the PoK administration and the committee.
The agreement was signed in Muzaffarabad after weeks of unrest and a region-wide shutdown in late September and early October 2025. It included measures concerning compensation for victims, a judicial inquiry into violent incidents, education reforms, land regularisation and other demands.
The Norway demonstration is part of a series of protests by Kashmiri diaspora groups in different countries over the situation in PoK. Earlier this week, members of the diaspora demonstrated at Times Square in New York, carrying placards calling for an end to alleged violence against civilians.
More than 70 British parliamentarians have also written to UN Secretary-General António Guterres seeking international intervention over the situation in PoK. The lawmakers cited reports of deaths and injuries, arbitrary arrests, restrictions on communications and disruption of essential supplies, and urged steps to protect civilians.
The diaspora groups have called for greater international attention to the situation, including restoration of communications and access to essential supplies and independent monitoring.
