The Jharkhand CID’s investigation into alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations has widened after prime accused Abhay Kumar Tiwari reportedly told investigators that several Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) posts were allegedly manipulated in exchange for money.
According to sources, Tiwari claimed that almost all general-category seats in the 2026 CDPO recruitment examination were allegedly fixed to favour candidates from other states. He reportedly told investigators that the minimum rate was around Rs 10 lakh per candidate.
Tiwari, who had worked as a marketing manager with TSR Data Processing Private Limited (TDPL), the agency that conducted the examination, is now being questioned about the alleged network, including the candidates who may have paid money, intermediaries involved and the stages at which the examination or interview process was allegedly manipulated.
The accused has also reportedly named former Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) Chairman L. Khiangte and former member Ajita Bhattacharya in connection with alleged manipulation of interview boards.
In his statement, Tiwari allegedly claimed that a candidate identified as Rajak was favoured through an arrangement involving a person named Ramveer Singh for Rs 15 lakh. He claimed the candidate’s interview board was headed by Khiangte.
Tiwari also alleged that Rs 10 lakh was paid to the personal assistant of Ajita Bhattacharya in connection with the selection of another candidate, Kajal Bharti. His statement also reportedly mentioned Pramod Kumar Pathak and Kumari Dolly Jaiswal.
According to the CID, an ITI project manager identified as Krishna allegedly acted as an intermediary in both cases.
Khiangte has already been arrested in the recruitment case and is in judicial custody, while the CID has questioned Bhattacharya.
Investigators are now verifying Tiwari’s allegations through financial transaction records, call detail records, digital evidence, bank accounts and original examination and interview documents.
The allegations contained in Tiwari’s statement have not yet been independently established. The CID is examining the evidence to determine whether the alleged manipulation and financial transactions occurred and whether other officials, candidates or intermediaries were involved.
