Lisa Ray on Midlife Fitness: ‘I’ve Accepted That My Body Has Changed’

Mumbai, August 29, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Actress and model Lisa Ray has opened up about how her approach to fitness and body image has evolved in her 50s, saying she now places greater emphasis on listening to her body, consistency and accepting the changes that come with ageing.

Sharing a series of photographs on social media, the Four More Shots Please! actor reflected on how her attitude towards exercise has changed over the years.

“Fitness in my 50s looks very, very different. If I had to boil it down to two things, it’s this: I used to celebrate pushing my body harder. Now I celebrate listening to it better. And secondly: consistency,” Lisa wrote.

She said maintaining consistency has become easier after she stopped exercising to recreate the body she had in the past and instead began training for the life she wants to lead in the future.

“The future me who wants to keep dancing, exploring, travelling, carrying her own bags and, ideally, not breaking a bone,” she added.

For Lisa, accepting physical changes has become an important part of staying fit in midlife. She stressed that acceptance does not mean giving up, but rather learning to work with and appreciate her changing body.

“Acceptance isn’t defeat. I’ve accepted that my body has changed. My face has changed. I have changed. I’m not at war with any of it. I’m working with this body. Listening to it better. Loving it deeper. And living my PrimeTime out loud,” she said.

Text accompanying the photographs further explained her changing relationship with exercise. One image read, “Fitness in my 50s looks very different and honestly? Thank goodness.”

Another reflected on how movement was once connected largely to appearance and professional expectations, including fitting into clothes and meeting industry standards.

“I used to celebrate pushing harder. Now I celebrate listening better. Turns out, that’s its own kind of strength,” another message said.

Lisa has previously spoken publicly about experiencing menopause at a relatively young age. She revealed that she underwent chemotherapy-induced menopause at 37 and later met and married her husband at 40.

She has also reflected on how limited awareness about the physical and emotional changes associated with menopause affected the early years of her marriage.
