Actor Akshaye Khanna recently reunited with longtime friend and filmmaker Rajat Rawail for a relaxed lunch in Mumbai, with Rawail sharing a rare glimpse of their get-together on social media.
Rawail posted a candid photograph on Wednesday showing the two friends seated across a table at a restaurant and posing for the camera.
“Super luncheon with my best best buddy, the super talented acting juggernaut Akshaye Khanna & Rajat Rawail, Bandra © Wed 9/9/36 © friends for ever n ever,” he wrote.
Khanna, meanwhile, continues to attract attention for his choice of diverse and unconventional roles. Following his acclaimed performance in Aditya Dhar’s “Dhurandhar”, the actor is preparing for another striking transformation in the upcoming mythological film “Mahakali”.
Khanna is reportedly set to portray Shukracharya, the guru of the Asuras. The makers recently unveiled an extended glimpse titled “Shukracharya’s War Cry”, featuring the actor in an intense and dramatically transformed avatar.
Directed by Puja Aparna Kolluru and written by Prasanth Varma, “Mahakali” is part of the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe. The film also stars Sriya Reddy, Bhoomi Shetty and Rohit Saraf and is scheduled to release in theatres on January 8, 2027.
Khanna was widely appreciated for his portrayal of Rehman Dakait in “Dhurandhar”, the action thriller headlined by Ranveer Singh and also featuring Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan and Arjun Rampal. The film released in theatres on December 5, 2025.
The actor reprised the role in “Dhurandhar: The Revenge”, the sequel that hit theatres on March 19, 2026.
