Young golfer Hissi Besra produced the best card of the day, firing a superb five-under 67 to win the Girls 11-12 title in the opening leg of the 2026 US Kids Golf India (North) series at Classic Golf and Country Club.
Blessed with a smooth swing and composed temperament, Hissi overcame a lone bogey with six birdies to claim one of her biggest wins so far. She birdied the first, third and eighth holes on the front nine, before adding three more birdies on the 10th, 12th and 15th. She closed her round with three successive pars.
Hissi has consistently featured on the podium in junior events, including the three-day US Kids India Championships last year. She has also finished among the top three at the CSK South Zone Championship in Chennai, Patna Junior Masters, Kolkata Juniors and the Shubhankar Sharma All India Junior Invitational.
Her latest victory marks another significant step in a promising rise through the junior golf ranks.
Among the other winners, Nihal Cheema, a medallist at this year’s US Kids World Championships in Pinehurst, carded a two-under 70 to win the Boys 9 category. He made four birdies against two bogeys and finished ahead of Zowra Veer Sikand, who returned a 76.
Gurugram’s Rayirth Jain also shot 70 after recovering from a difficult start. Two early bogeys left him one-over through 13 holes, but he responded with four birdies against one bogey over his final five holes, including back-to-back birdies on the 14th and 15th and another pair on the final two holes.
Drona Singh Dhull, who has enjoyed a strong season on the Indian junior circuit, successfully defended his US Kids title. Competing in Boys 12 this year after winning Boys 11 last year, he carded a one-under 71 despite three consecutive bogeys from the 15th to 17th holes.
Players in the Boys and Girls categories up to eight years played nine-hole rounds, while the remaining age groups competed over 18 holes. The opening leg was played under preferred-lies conditions.
The second leg of the series will be held on Friday, September 11, at the Classic Golf and Country Club.
