Singer Mika Singh has called for stronger public safety measures in Mumbai following the firing incident involving Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff, urging the government and authorities to ensure that citizens can move around the city without fear.
In a social media post, Mika said Mumbai had traditionally been regarded as one of India’s safest cities, where people, particularly women, felt comfortable working, travelling and walking even late at night.
“Mumbai has always been known as one of the safest cities in India, where people—especially women—have felt confident walking, working, and travelling even late at night. But after the incident involving Tiger Shroff, it raises serious concerns about our safety,” he wrote.
The singer stressed that residents should not have to fear for their safety on the city’s streets. He appealed to the authorities to take the incident seriously and strengthen accountability to ensure public security.
“No one should have to live in fear on the streets of our own city. I sincerely request the government and the concerned authorities to take this matter seriously and ensure the safety of every citizen,” Mika said.
He also wished Tiger Shroff a speedy recovery, reiterating that Mumbai should remain a city where people feel safe regardless of the time of day.
The firing took place on October 18 outside a football club near Pushpa Narsee Park in Mumbai’s Juhu area. According to the reported developments, all three suspects allegedly involved in the incident were arrested in Kota, Rajasthan.
Tiger escaped without bullet injuries but reportedly sustained minor cuts and irritation on his left arm, shoulder and chest from gunpowder and fragments of shattered glass. His driver, identified as Firdaus, and an autorickshaw driver were also injured. Both were taken to nearby hospitals, where their condition was reported to be stable.
The incident has prompted renewed concerns about security in Mumbai, with Mika calling for stronger action to protect residents and preserve their sense of safety.
