Mumbai Police have registered a case against three unidentified persons after seven rounds were allegedly fired at actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Juhu, with the actor’s caretaker and driver, Firdos Ibrahim Baloch, sustaining injuries in the October 18 incident.
According to the FIR, two assailants opened fire at the vehicle as Shroff and Baloch were returning after playing football. A third suspect allegedly assisted the shooters in escaping. Police have invoked Sections 109(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant provisions of the Arms Act.
The complaint states that Shroff and Baloch had left M.M. Matrix Gym in Santacruz West around 7 p.m. before heading to the grounds of Jamnabai Narsee International School in Vile Parle West. The shooting allegedly took place as their car exited the school grounds and turned left.
The attackers reportedly fired seven rounds at the vehicle’s front windshield and side window. Five bullets allegedly struck the car, while two missed. The FIR further states that one shooter approached the vehicle and attempted to fire at Shroff from close range, but the pistol reportedly malfunctioned.
Baloch sustained a gunshot wound near his left wrist and a fracture to the ring finger of his right hand. Another person in the area was also hit by a bullet in the chest and is undergoing treatment at Cooper Hospital.
Shroff reportedly took over the steering wheel and drove Baloch to Santacruz Police Station, after which the injured man was admitted to Nanavati Hospital. Police said Shroff also suffered injuries to his chest and right arm, although he was not shot.
The FIR describes the clothing and physical appearance of the three suspects. Investigators suspect the attackers conducted reconnaissance before the shooting and allegedly waited near Pushpa Park for around 45 minutes.
According to the complaint, the suspects later travelled by motorcycle to Andheri West railway station, where they allegedly abandoned the vehicle near a police beat post. Investigators are examining whether they subsequently travelled towards Surat.
A preliminary forensic assessment reportedly indicated that a locally manufactured pistol was used in the attack. Police are continuing to establish the sequence of events, identify the suspects and investigate whether others were involved in planning the shooting.
