Actress Kanika Mann has spoken candidly about the pressure she faces from her family to have children, sharing a humorous account of how her worth is seemingly linked to motherhood.
During a conversation with actor Aasif Khan on Bigg Boss 20, Kanika revealed that her family members consider her “zero” until she has two or three children.
“My family members count me as zero. Until I give them two or three kids. Till then, I am zero,” she said, describing the expectations placed on her.
Aasif related to her experience, revealing that his own mother frequently urges him to get married and become a father. He said she often overlooks his professional achievements and instead focuses on when he will give her a grandchild.
Recalling an incident involving a planned pilgrimage, Aasif said he and his family had booked tickets for Umrah. When he excitedly called out to his mother to share some good news, she assumed he was about to announce that he would become a father.
After learning that the news was about their trip, his mother reportedly expressed disappointment that it was not the announcement she had hoped for.
Aasif also recalled calling his mother shortly before entering Bigg Boss 20. When he told her he had good news, she again assumed he was going to make her a grandmother. He had to clarify that he was going to participate in the reality show.
The exchange highlighted the family expectations both actors said they encounter around marriage and parenthood, despite their professional achievements.
Kanika is best known for playing the titular character in the television show Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega. She has also participated in Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 12 and appeared in shows including Chand Jalne Laga and Naagin 7.
