Khunti (Jharkhand), October 19, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
Jharkhand Police have rescued four minor girls from Khunti district who were allegedly targeted by human trafficking networks, tracing three of them to Delhi and the fourth to Jaipur, officials said on Monday.
According to police, the three girls rescued from Delhi had gone missing from their homes around a year ago. The fourth girl was traced to Jaipur after being away from her family for nearly 11 years.
Investigators are probing the alleged involvement of human traffickers and placement agencies in the cases.
Police said they launched searches after the families of the three girls reported their disappearance. Acting on information gathered during the investigation, a police team traced the girls to Delhi and rescued them safely.
In a separate case, police tracked down the fourth girl in Jaipur, nearly 11 years after she had gone missing from her family.
According to police, the girls were allegedly taken to other states by human traffickers on the pretext of offering them better employment opportunities. They were subsequently made to work as domestic help in different households through placement agencies.
The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the girls’ disappearance and seeking to identify those allegedly involved in the trafficking network.
Khunti Superintendent of Police Rishabh Garg said the rescues were carried out as part of an ongoing drive against human trafficking. He added that the investigation was continuing and that further action would be taken against other accused persons identified during the probe.
Police said arrangements were being made to bring all four girls safely back to Khunti. They will undergo counselling before efforts are made to reunite them with their families with the assistance of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).
Investigators are also examining the wider alleged trafficking network and the role of placement agencies in the cases.
