Chandigarh, October 18, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday said two accused had been arrested following an alleged stone-pelting incident involving a Jammu and Kashmir-registered bus travelling from Delhi to Srinagar near Kurukshetra, adding that the police investigation had traced the altercation to a parking dispute.

The response came after Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah raised concerns over reports that stones and bricks had been hurled at the bus in what was described on social media as a suspected hate crime.

In a post on X, Saini assured Abdullah that the safety of residents and visitors remained a priority for the Haryana government.

“The safety of every citizen and every person visiting the state is our highest priority. Mr. Omar Abdullah, Haryana Police ensured immediate action in this matter,” Saini said.

He said the police had registered an FIR and arrested both accused persons after investigating the incident. According to the Haryana Chief Minister, the inquiry indicated that the confrontation arose from a parking dispute between two vehicle drivers.

“Further legal proceedings in the matter are underway,” Saini said.

Earlier, Abdullah had urged the Haryana government and police to identify those responsible and take strict action to prevent similar incidents.

“This unfortunate incident should never have taken place. I hope the Haryana government led by Nayab Singh Saini and Haryana Police catch the culprits and take action to ensure these things don’t happen again,” Abdullah said in his post.

Jammu and Kashmir National Conference spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar also condemned the reported incident and called for action against those involved.

Dar said an elderly Kashmiri man had been injured in the incident, leaving families distressed and fearful. He urged Haryana Police to take cognisance of the matter, identify those responsible and initiate appropriate legal action.

While Abdullah and Dar expressed concern over the reported attack, Saini said the police investigation had identified a parking dispute as the trigger for the confrontation. Further legal proceedings are pending.
