Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde met actor Tiger Shroff following the firing incident targeting the Bollywood star’s vehicle in Mumbai’s Juhu area, as images from the meeting showed bandages on the actor’s left arm and dressings on his chest.
Shroff was reportedly safe from direct gunfire, while his driver sustained injuries in the incident on Sunday evening.
Strongly condemning the shooting, Shinde described it as a serious concern and assured that those responsible would face strict action. He said he had spoken to the Mumbai Police Commissioner, who had formed multiple teams to track down and apprehend the accused.
“Our current priority is to keep Mumbai and its citizens safe. Whether it is a celebrity or an ordinary citizen, ensuring their safety is the responsibility of both the police and the government. There will be no laxity in this regard, and no gang, whoever they may be, will be spared,” Shinde said.
The Deputy Chief Minister also referred to the Mumbai Police’s crackdown on organised crime during the 1990s, reiterating the government’s resolve to act firmly against criminal groups threatening public safety.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has separately directed the Police Commissioner to investigate the firing promptly and take strict action against those found responsible.
The incident has triggered wider concerns about security in Mumbai. The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) expressed anguish over the shooting, arguing that it was not an isolated occurrence and questioning the safety of residents in the city.
In a statement shared on social media, the association asked who might be targeted next, adding that if a celebrity could not feel safe in central Mumbai, ordinary citizens would have even greater concerns about their security.
Police teams are investigating the incident and working to identify those involved in the firing.
