Chandigarh, October 7, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has summoned Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s Officer on Special Duty (OSD), Rajbir Singh Ghuman, for questioning in connection with a case involving allegations of corruption and influence-peddling.

Ghuman has been asked to appear before the CBI at its Sector 30 office in Chandigarh at 2.30 pm on Wednesday.

The development comes a day after the CBI registered an FIR against Ghuman and five others and conducted search and seizure operations at the Punjab Chief Minister’s Camp Office and seven other locations.

The other persons named in the FIR are Nitin Gohal, Jitin Gohal alias Raja, Romi Raja Mahajan, Bir Devinder and RS Nagra. Searches were conducted at premises connected with the persons named in the case across Chandigarh, Mohali, Gurdaspur, Ludhiana, Patiala, Sangrur and Jalandhar.

It remains unclear whether Ghuman will appear before the CBI on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Government is expected to again mention its case before the Supreme Court, seeking urgent listing of its petition challenging the Punjab and Haryana High Court order directing the CBI to probe the allegations.

The state government filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) against the October 5 High Court order on Tuesday. The matter was mentioned before a Bench led by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, which agreed to consider it on Wednesday or Thursday.

The CBI had on Tuesday carried out coordinated searches at eight locations across Punjab and Chandigarh, including the Chief Minister’s Camp Office in Sector 2, Ghuman’s residence at Gharachon village and a residence connected with his relative in Phase 11, Mohali.

Searches were also conducted at locations in Sangrur, Patiala, Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Gurdaspur.

The CBI said laptops, mobile phones and documents were seized during the searches and were being scrutinised for evidence relating to alleged bribery and other improprieties.

The searches followed the Punjab and Haryana High Court’s October 5 order directing the CBI to register a case and investigate information relating to alleged corruption and influence-peddling. The information had earlier been shared by the Enforcement Directorate with the Punjab Police.
