Filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan took fans on a nostalgic trip through Bollywood history as she shared behind-the-scenes glimpses from several films she has worked on, including 1942: A Love Story, Dil Se…, Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega and Om Shanti Om.
Farah shared the throwback photographs on Instagram and turned the post into a guessing game, challenging fans to identify the films from the pictures.
“Some blasts from the past! Can ul guess the films by the pics?? Clues are the photos themselves,” she wrote in the caption.
Among the memories were moments from Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 1994 romantic drama 1942: A Love Story, for which Farah choreographed Manisha Koirala for the song Kuch Na Kaho. The film starred Anil Kapoor, Koirala and Jackie Shroff in the lead roles and was set against the backdrop of the Indian revolutionary movement.
She also revisited memories from Mani Ratnam’s 1998 film Dil Se…, particularly the iconic song Chaiyya Chaiyya, featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Malaika Arora. The song, choreographed by Farah, was filmed on top of a moving train and went on to become one of Indian cinema’s most recognisable dance sequences.
Farah also included glimpses from the 2000 romantic comedy Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega, starring Salman Khan, Preity Zinta and Rani Mukerji.
The filmmaker’s throwback collection also featured Om Shanti Om, the 2007 blockbuster that marked her second directorial venture after her 2004 debut Main Hoon Na. The film, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, became a major commercial success.
Farah subsequently directed Tees Maar Khan in 2010 and Happy New Year in 2014. As a choreographer, she has worked on more than 100 songs across over 80 films and has won the National Film Award for Best Choreography.
Her body of work also includes projects in Telugu and Tamil cinema as well as international productions such as Monsoon Wedding, Bombay Dreams, Vanity Fair, Marigold: An Adventure in India, Perhaps Love and Kung Fu Yoga.
