Dubai, October 6, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Demand for the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup has crossed one million ticket applications within three days of the ballot opening, underlining the massive global interest in the tournament to be hosted across South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.

More than 320,000 fans have already registered for the ticket ballot, with applications submitted for over 1.1 million tickets, the International Cricket Council (ICC) said on Tuesday.

The India-Pakistan clash has emerged as the most sought-after fixture, attracting more than 110,000 applications. India’s match against South Africa follows with over 92,000 applications, while more than 86,000 applications have been submitted for India’s encounter with Australia.

The pre-seeded Super 7 fixture between India (A1) and Pakistan (A3), scheduled for November 7, has received nearly 78,000 applications, making it the fourth most in-demand match. The November 21 final has already attracted close to 69,000 applications.

ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta said the response within the first few days reflected the tournament’s global stature and growing appeal beyond traditional cricket markets.

He said the World Cup would also mark an important moment for African cricket, with an ICC marquee men’s event returning to the continent after two decades.

Gupta noted that the tournament would bring the attention of around 2.5 billion cricket fans across more than 120 countries, adding that the ICC aimed to expand the sport’s reach among fans, athletes and communities.

Qondisa Ngwenya, CEO of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027 Local Organising Committee, said the early ticket demand demonstrated the extraordinary interest in the tournament.

He said South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia were ready to welcome fans from across Africa and the world and showcase the region’s passion, diversity and hospitality.

The ticket ballot will remain open until 11:59 p.m. CAT on November 21, allowing fans worldwide to register for tickets to the 2027 World Cup.

The strong early demand, particularly for India’s matches and the India-Pakistan fixture, offers an indication of the enormous interest expected when the tournament begins across the three host nations.
