Actress Parineeti Chopra is set to take on an investigative thriller with Reporting Live, a Netflix film in which she plays a fearless reporter drawn into a dangerous investigation into illegal sand mining.
Inspired by true events, the film stars Parineeti alongside Deven Bhojani as a reporter and cameraman whose pursuit of answers takes them into a world of crime, power and survival.
Speaking about the role, Parineeti said she was immediately attracted to the character’s determination to uncover the truth.
“This is my second inning with Netflix this year, in the thriller genre, but with a new avatar. I was immediately drawn to the spirit of this character, someone who is curious, fearless, and unwilling to stop until she gets to the truth,” she said.
She added that working with the ensemble cast made the experience particularly special and said she was looking forward to audiences discovering the story.
The trailer introduces illegal sand mining as a lucrative business where probing too deeply can carry deadly consequences. After a fatal incident, Parineeti’s reporter and Deven’s cameraman begin investigating questions that powerful people would rather remain unanswered. As they pursue each lead, the investigation brings fresh threats and pushes the duo deeper into danger.
The film also features Amol Palekar, Adil Hussain and Shekhar Suman.
Reporting Live marks the feature directorial debut of Dhruv Tripathi, who has co-written the film with Mihir Jadhav. The film is produced by Partha Kiran Thakur and Joshua Shirsath.
Reporting Live will premiere on Netflix on October 9.
Parineeti was last seen in Netflix’s seven-episode mystery thriller Shaque: Trust No One, which premiered on September 24 and marked her streaming series debut.
