Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar turned a year older on Wednesday, with his wife, author and television host Twinkle Khanna, marking the occasion with a playful birthday message on social media.
Khanna shared a photograph with Akshay on her Instagram Stories in which she appeared to be playfully trying to strangle her husband. Accompanying the picture was her message: “Happy Birthday Mr K and like I promised all the way to 99.”
Akshay and Twinkle grew close while working together on the 1999 film International Khiladi. After dating for several years, the couple married on January 17, 2001.
They welcomed their son, Aarav Kumar, in 2002 and their daughter, Nitara Kumar, in 2012.
Several prominent members of the film fraternity also took to social media to wish Akshay on his birthday.
Kareena Kapoor wrote, “Akki, happy birthday, favourite. Biggest hug.”
Ajay Devgn recalled their long association, writing, “Happy Birthday Akki… Been over 30 years in this game together… may you keep playing it like a true Khiladi for many more.”
Kajol wished him a “Happy birthday” and hoped he would “have too much fun”, while Anil Kapoor wrote, “Happy Birthday, Akshay! Wishing you boundless energy, health and happiness forever.”
Suniel Shetty shared a nostalgic message, writing, “Akkiiii… from madness to memories, from hustle to hugs, we have seen it all together. Here’s to many more laughs and crazy times ahead.”
Tiger Shroff described Akshay as his hero and thanked him for inspiring generations, while Riteish Deshmukh wished his “dearest friend, brother & partner-in-crime” endless health, love and laughter.
Sidharth Malhotra also wished Akshay on Instagram Stories, calling him “big bro” and wishing him health, success and happiness.
