Renowned singer and composer Arijit Singh has revealed that he will watch Salman Khan-hosted reality show ‘Bigg Boss’ for the first time because his former ‘Fame Gurukul’ co-contestant Qazi Touqeer is participating in the current season.
Arijit took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express his support for Qazi, writing, “I will have to watch BIG BOSS for the first time in my life cz Apna Rockstar QAZI hai udhar.”
Arijit and Qazi were co-contestants on the 2005 reality show ‘Fame Gurukul’, which brought the two together early in their careers.
Qazi has since been drawing considerable attention inside the ‘Bigg Boss’ house, with several of his engaging moments going viral on social media. His line, “I’m a Rockstar baby, aau!”, has also become an internet catchphrase.
Qazi has previously spoken warmly about Arijit. In May, he shared a video from a visit to the singer’s hometown of Jiaganj in West Bengal, where the two were seen riding a scooter and reminiscing about their ‘Fame Gurukul’ days.
Praising Arijit, Qazi said there was “no corruption” in him and no insecurity or jealousy towards others, describing the singer as someone driven by “pure passion” and calling him a genius.
Qazi also expressed gratitude to the people of Murshidabad and Jiaganj for the love they had shown him, while praising Arijit’s family and staff.
He revealed that Arijit had established an academy in Jiaganj for children interested in playing cricket. Recalling their time together, Qazi said Arijit continued bowling for another three or four overs despite getting injured, describing him as having an old-school, never-say-die attitude.
Qazi further recalled that Arijit remained immersed in music later that day, working on practice and editing from around 8:30 p.m. until 1 a.m.
The latest exchange between the two has once again brought their long-standing friendship into the spotlight, with Arijit’s public support adding to the attention surrounding Qazi’s ‘Bigg Boss’ journey.
