Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn wants Malayalam superstar Mohanlal to watch Drishyam The Conclusion and share his feedback, saying his approval would make the team happy.
Speaking at the trailer launch, Ajay said the third instalment presents a completely different story from the Malayalam version and is not merely a modified adaptation.
Ajay said working on the third film was a major challenge because the franchise had to retain its trademark twists and intrigue while taking the story forward from the point where Drishyam 2 ended.
“In fact, I would like to say that this film is a big challenge for us because, with Mohanlal sir and Joseph, this is the first film—the third, actually. The second was also, in a way, inspired by the original. But this is a completely different script. So, their three are completely different. Our film is completely different. It’s not like we’ve made a few changes; it’s completely different,” he said.
Ajay added that he hoped Mohanlal and director Jeethu Joseph, who helmed the original Malayalam Drishyam films, would watch the film.
“So, I want Mohanlal sir and Joseph to see the film because I would also like their approval, you know, that they love it. That would make me very happy,” he said.
Ajay revealed that the team was initially uncertain whether another film in the franchise could be made after Drishyam 2. According to him, developing a compelling third chapter was particularly difficult because the narrative had to remain within the same setting while advancing the story and maintaining suspense.
He said Abhishek Pathak later brought an idea that the team liked and subsequently spent two-and-a-half years developing with the writers.
Ajay praised Pathak’s work, saying he had “cracked” the script and that the team also felt the story needed a conclusion rather than being extended further.
He said Pathak had “grown on ‘Drishyam’” and praised his writing and execution of the film.
Drishyam The Conclusion, directed by Abhishek Pathak, stars Ajay Devgn, Jaideep Ahlawat, Tabu, Shriya Saran, Prakash Raj, Kamlesh Sawant, Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav.
The film is scheduled to release in theatres on October 2, 2026.
