The BJP on Wednesday launched a month-long “Seva Sankalp Abhiyan” to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 25 years in constitutional public office, projecting his political journey as one defined by governance, welfare delivery, national security and a transformation in India’s ambitions.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters, party president Nitin Nabin said the campaign would run from September 17 to October 17, with 12 programmes planned to take the message of Modi’s 25 years of “seva, sushasan and jan kalyan” to the grassroots.
Nabin said the milestone represented more than political longevity and argued that Modi’s tenure had transformed governance through large-scale welfare delivery and infrastructure development.
According to the BJP, around 80 crore people are receiving foodgrain support, more than 100 crore people have been linked to social-security schemes, nearly 12 crore toilets have been constructed and more than four crore houses have been built for the poor. The party also cited 200 crore free Covid-19 vaccine doses administered and claimed that 25 crore people had been brought out of poverty.
The BJP contrasted these achievements with what it described as policy paralysis and economic uncertainty when Modi assumed office in 2014. The party now portrays India as one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies, with governance shifting towards mission-mode implementation and infrastructure-led growth.
National security is another major component of the campaign. The BJP said the government had strengthened internal and external security, reduced the footprint of Left-Wing Extremism and helped more than 200 previously affected districts move towards normalcy.
The party also highlighted India’s expanding global profile, citing 37 international honours received by Modi as evidence of the country’s growing diplomatic stature.
On the cultural front, the BJP pointed to the Ram Temple, Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, Somnath and Mahakal Corridor as examples of development being combined with the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage.
Nabin also highlighted what the party described as a shift in India’s economic outlook — from manpower to manufacturing power, from welfare beneficiaries to participants in growth, and from job seekers to entrepreneurs and job creators. Startups, unicorns, defence manufacturing and the space sector were cited as symbols of this change.
Women-led development will form another key part of the campaign, with the BJP highlighting initiatives ranging from Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao to Lakhpati Didis and the push for greater political representation through the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.
The campaign will culminate around October 7, marking Modi’s completion of 25 years as a constitutional head of government. Grassroots camps, youth journeys, innovation challenges and public participation programmes are planned as part of the month-long exercise.
The BJP said the campaign would seek to present Modi’s 25-year journey as one centred on delivery, scale and a transformed India, while positioning “Viksit Bharat 2047” as the next phase of the government’s development vision.
