Actor Suniel Shetty extended warm birthday wishes to his longtime friend and ‘Hera Pheri’ co-star Akshay Kumar, who turned 59 on Wednesday.
Sharing a special post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Suniel wrote, “Some bonds don’t need too many words. Years go by, life gets busier, but the warmth respect and affection remain exactly the same. So many memories behind us… and plenty more ahead. Happy happy Birthday Akkii…have a great one. @akshaykumar.”
Suniel also shared a picture of himself posing alongside Akshay.
The two actors have been associated closely with the ‘Hera Pheri’ franchise. The first film, directed by Priyadarshan and starring Akshay as Raju, Suniel as Shyam and Paresh Rawal as Baburao, was released in 2000. Initially a sleeper hit, ‘Hera Pheri’ went on to become one of Bollywood’s most popular comedies and eventually attained cult status.
The trio reunited six years later for ‘Phir Hera Pheri’ in 2006. The third instalment, ‘Hera Pheri 3’, is currently in development and will feature both Akshay and Suniel.
Beyond the franchise, Akshay and Suniel have worked together in several films, including ‘Waqt Hamara Hai’ (1993), ‘Mohra’ (1994), ‘Sapoot’ (1996), ‘Dhadkan’ (2000), ‘Awara Paagal Deewana’ (2002), ‘Aan: Men at Work’ (2004), ‘Deewane Huye Paagal’ (2005) and ‘De Dana Dan’ (2009).
Akshay also has a busy lineup ahead. He will reunite with Saif Ali Khan in Priyadarshan’s upcoming thriller ‘Haiwaan’, which also stars Shriya Pilgaonkar and Saiyami Kher. The film is a remake of the Malayalam drama ‘Oppam’.
He is also part of Rohit Shetty’s ‘Golmaal 5’, which features Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Kunal Kemmu and Sharman Joshi.
Additionally, Akshay has been cast in Anees Bazmee’s upcoming untitled family comedy, which will feature Vidya Balan and Raashi Khanna in important roles.
