Five students from Lovely Professional University (LPU) concluded a two-week Summer School Program (SSP) at the top-ranking URAL Federal University in Yekaterinburg, Russia. This opportunity was fully funded by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science. The program brought together students and delegates from over 40 nations.
During the program, the LPU students immersed themselves in specialised educational domains, working on diverse projects. Aman Goyal and Digvijay Singh, students of B.Arch, collaborated on the “Projecting and Modelling of Compressing and Briquetting of Municipal Waste Recycling Systems’; Tamanna, a student of B. Design Product and Industrial Design, worked on project ‘ ‘Recommendation modelling for complementary furniture products based on customer preferences’; Kristina Barooah, a student of B. Tech CSE, worked on the worked on the project ‘Forecast demand modelling (time series analysis)’; and Naman Swastik Sahu’s worked on the project of ‘Handwritten Digit Recognition Machine Learning Algorithms: A Detailed Exploration and Analysis for Improved Digital Transcription Systems’. All five students excelled in their respective projects, earning top places.
The students attended lectures by eminent educators and industry leaders, gaining insights into cutting-edge technologies and corporations in Russia. They also completed a comprehensive Russian language course and received certifications.
Dr. Ashok Mittal, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Founder Chancellor of LPU, congratulated all the students on their brilliant performances in Russia.
Dr. Mittal praised the students’ achievements and highlighted LPU’s commitment to providing diverse opportunities, such as semester exchanges, summer programs, and student exchanges. These initiatives at LPU have been instrumental in fostering cultural exchanges and personal growth among students.
The program also included cultural excursions, allowing students to explore Yekaterinburg City’s vibrant cityscape and prominent landmarks, including the global expo, INNOPROM 2024, Master Class, and the Museum of Military, Europe-Asia Border. These experiences provided valuable insights into Russian history, culture, and architectural heritage.
Dr. Atul Singla, Senior Dean and Chief Architect of LPU, motivated and guided the students. The delegation to Russia was led by Ar. Rajendra Kumar, Director and Professor of the School of Architecture and Design.
