Rajasthan Police have busted an alleged fake call centre operating from Jaipur and arrested 11 persons, including its suspected operator, in connection with an alleged employment fraud that targeted people across Rajasthan and other states.
The action was carried out by the Crime Surveillance Team (CST) under a special drive against criminal activities launched on the directions of Jaipur Police Commissioner Sachin Mittal and under the supervision of Special Police Commissioner Om Prakash.
The raid was conducted at a premises on the third floor of Royal Apartments in Sindhi Colony, falling under the Jawahar Nagar Police Station area. During the operation, police apprehended 11 individuals, including the alleged mastermind identified as Salman.
According to Special Police Commissioner Om Prakash, the police seized 15 desktop computers, two laptops and nine mobile phones from the premises. The electronic devices are being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
Preliminary interrogation and technical analysis indicate that the call centre allegedly lured victims by promising e-Mitra IDs and employment opportunities linked to various e-Mitra services.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sanjeev Nain said the accused allegedly collected between Rs 40,000 and Rs 70,000 from each victim on the assurance of providing jobs and related facilities. However, the promised services were allegedly never delivered.
Initial findings suggest the fraudulent operation had been functioning for the past two to three years.
Police are now conducting a detailed forensic examination of the seized devices to establish the scale of the racket, identify additional suspects, trace financial transactions and determine the total number of victims affected by the alleged scam.
