Delhi-based singer-songwriter MNV, pronounced Manav, has entered the independent music scene with his debut single Gadbadi, the first release in a planned three-single rollout.
Positioned as an artist with a maximalist, retro-inspired sound, MNV moves away from the stripped-back approach often associated with contemporary music. His debut track is designed around an energetic, dancefloor-oriented sound while drawing on his background in poetry, songwriting and live performance.
“I don’t really remember a time before music,” MNV said. “Even in school, I’d be tucked away in the back bench with a notebook—not taking notes, writing lyrics. That’s just always been in me.”
The singer-songwriter has trained in both Hindustani and Western vocals and writes in four languages. His years as a live performer have also shaped his approach to storytelling through music.
“Training classically in Hindustani and Western vocals, writing in four languages, and having spent years as a live performer means I’ve got a lot of ways to tell a story, and I can’t wait to share them in this first chapter finally,” he added.
MNV’s debut arrives as Times Music’s ffs. Records continues its focus on discovering and developing emerging independent artists. The label is positioning the release as part of its effort to bring new Indian independent music and artists to wider audiences.
Mandar Thakur, CEO of Times Music, described MNV as an artist who challenges conventional genre boundaries.
“Every once in a while comes along a transformative artist who blows you away with refreshingly amazing music that puts you in a great mood, defies every genre gravity and is a real artist in the truest sense—that artist is Manav (MNV),” Thakur said.
With Gadbadi, MNV begins a three-release musical chapter that combines his varied vocal training, songwriting and performance experience with a sound aimed squarely at the dance floor.
Gadbadi is available across major audio streaming platforms and on Times Music’s YouTube channel.
