Celebrity chef and ‘MasterChef India’ Season 1 winner Pankaj Bhadouria has shared an emotional update on her cancer journey, saying the disease has become only “a chapter” in her story and urging women not to delay regular health check-ups.
Pankaj shared a new portrait of herself on social media along with a message reflecting on her recovery. The photograph features the chef smiling at the camera in a black outfit, with her short hair styled in a sleek bob.
“Cancer tested my body, but it couldn’t break my spirit. Now, I live with purpose,” the message accompanying the photograph read.
Sharing the post, Pankaj said the experience had tested her physically but also strengthened her spirit and renewed her sense of purpose.
“Cancer became a chapter in my story—but it will never be the whole story. This journey tested my body, strengthened my spirit and gave me a renewed sense of purpose,” she wrote.
She added that as she continues to recover, she is choosing to approach each day with “greater gratitude, courage and joy”.
Addressing women directly, Pankaj urged them to prioritise their health and undergo regular medical check-ups.
“To every woman reading this: please don’t postpone your regular health check-ups. Early detection can change everything,” she said, adding a message of “healing, hope and living with purpose”.
Pankaj first publicly disclosed her breast cancer diagnosis on May 28, 2026, sharing a photograph from a hospital bed and seeking prayers and support from her followers. The following day, she revealed that she was undergoing surgery and expressed confidence that she would “bounce back”.
She later said the surgery was successful, but a post-surgery biopsy detected a 2mm invasive HER2-positive component. Doctors subsequently advised her to undergo 12 sessions of chemotherapy and one year of targeted therapy.
Pankaj has also spoken openly about the emotional impact of chemotherapy-related hair loss. Before starting treatment, she cut her long hair short and said she wanted to embrace the change on her own terms.
When hair loss eventually began, she shared a photograph of herself looking at strands of hair that had fallen out and acknowledged how difficult the experience had been, while remaining hopeful that her hair would eventually grow back.
