Tejashwi Yadav Targets JD-U’s Sanjay Jha, Alleges He ‘Entrapped’ Nitish Kumar for Rajya Sabha

Patna, August 20, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

RJD National Working President and Bihar Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav on Thursday launched a sharp attack on JD-U National Working President and MP Sanjay Jha, alleging that leaders such as Jha had “entrapped” Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to secure a Rajya Sabha berth.

Speaking to reporters while leaving Patna for Madhubani, Tejashwi responded to Jha’s criticism of the RJD-led Lok Bhavan march held in the state capital on Wednesday.

Tejashwi advised Jha to first focus on his own position within the JD-U, alleging that there was significant opposition to him within the party. He further alleged that Jha and other leaders were close to Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The RJD leader also raised the death of 19-year-old Roshan Yadav in jail in Madhubani. Tejashwi claimed that police had forcibly taken the youth away and alleged that questions remained over the circumstances surrounding his death.

Tejashwi said he had spoken to Roshan’s family and was travelling to Madhubani to meet them. He added that he would speak to officials concerned and seek justice for the family.

He alleged that Roshan had been assaulted and subjected to electric shocks while allegedly in police custody. These allegations, made by Tejashwi, have not been independently verified and would require investigation.

Targeting the Bihar government, Tejashwi alleged that the state was being turned into a “police state” under Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and said the RJD would oppose such a situation.

He also referred to a murder in Hajipur and said he planned to meet the victim’s family during his visits to different parts of the state. He accused the government of failing to maintain law and order and alleged that criminal activity was increasing across Bihar.

On the ongoing student protest at Gardanibagh in Patna, Tejashwi reiterated his support for the demonstrators, particularly those on hunger strike. He urged the government to consider their demands and warned that continued inaction could intensify the agitation.

His remarks came a day after police detained him during the RJD’s Lok Bhavan march in Patna before releasing him. The march focused on student concerns, unemployment, alleged examination irregularities and the controversy surrounding alleged AK-47 firing during a student protest in Siwan.
