CCTV footage has emerged in connection with the shocking deaths of three members of a family in Lucknow, where an SBI field officer allegedly shot his wife outside her workplace, returned home and killed his sister before taking his own life.
The incident took place on Thursday afternoon in Gomti Nagar. The officer, identified as 35-year-old Manas Bajpai, allegedly shot his wife, Divya Mishra, a relationship manager at ICICI Bank, outside the bank before fleeing to his residence in Husadiya.
Three CCTV clips linked to the incident have surfaced. One reportedly shows Divya leaving for work and getting into a car, while another, recorded outside the ICICI Bank branch, captures the confrontation between the couple.
According to the footage, Manas and Divya appeared to engage in a scuffle outside the bank. He allegedly struck her with the butt of a firearm before opening fire. Divya suffered gunshot injuries and later died. Security guards and a bank colleague rushed towards her, while Manas allegedly pointed the weapon at those attempting to intervene before escaping.
He then drove to his home, around two kilometres away. Police said he entered the house, locked the room and played the Hanuman Chalisa loudly before allegedly shooting his sister, Sheeba, and then himself. Neighbours, who heard two gunshots, broke open the door and found the siblings dead.
Police are examining whether Sheeba’s reported treatment for a mental health condition and concerns about her future care played any role in the incident.
Investigators are also examining a WhatsApp status allegedly posted by Manas after shooting Divya, in which he accused his wife of betrayal and said he intended to kill himself and his sister. The post also mentioned Divya’s sister, YouTuber Pragya Mishra, and her husband, Bharat Yadav. The allegations in the post have not been independently established.
Divya, 33, was an assistant manager and relationship manager at ICICI Bank. She and Manas married in 2018 in an arranged marriage and had no children. According to information emerging during the investigation, Divya had filed for divorce about a year ago and was subsequently living with her parents in Shringar Nagar, Alambagh.
Senior police officials reached both locations and launched an investigation. The case falls under the jurisdiction of Gomti Nagar police station.
