State Bank of India (SBI) has revised its cash withdrawal charges for Basic Savings Bank Deposit (BSBD) accounts opened through the branch channel, with the new rules coming into effect from October 1, the lender said in a public notice on Thursday.
Under the revised structure, BSBD account holders will continue to be entitled to four free cash withdrawals each month. Any withdrawal beyond the four-transaction limit will attract a charge of ₹15 per transaction, in addition to applicable GST.
SBI said digital transactions will continue to remain free without any transaction limit.
The bank has also changed the way Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AePS) transactions are counted. Previously, AePS transactions classified as digital transactions were excluded while calculating the four free monthly withdrawals. Under the revised rules, that exclusion will no longer apply.
The announcement comes as SBI continues to report strong financial performance. In its Q1FY27 results, the country’s largest lender recorded a 10.23 per cent year-on-year rise in net profit to ₹21,121 crore for the April-June quarter, compared with ₹19,160 crore in Q1FY26.
Operating profit increased 9.8 per cent to ₹33,529 crore, while net interest income (NII) rose 14.9 per cent to ₹46,992 crore, according to the bank’s regulatory filing.
SBI shares were trading largely flat on Thursday at ₹1,048.05 on the BSE, up 0.2 per cent. The stock has recorded a 52-week high of ₹1,234.80 and a 52-week low of ₹798.60, according to exchange data.
