Socialite and singer Paris Hilton is marking two decades since the release of her debut album Paris, describing the record as a deeply personal project that helped her discover her voice and present a different side of herself to the world.
Hilton took to Instagram on Sunday to share behind-the-scenes glimpses from the making of the album, which was released in 2006. “20 years of my debut album Paris,” she wrote, adding that the record would always remain “so personal and close to my heart.”
“It was one of the first times I truly found my voice and got to share a whole new side of myself with the world,” Hilton said, inviting fans to share their favourite songs from the album.
The album, released by Warner Records in August 2006, featured songs including Stars Are Blind, Nothing in This World, Jealousy and Screwed. It reached No. 6 on the Billboard 200 and also charted internationally.
Hilton first gained widespread attention through New York’s social scene before moving into modelling and television. Her reality series The Simple Life, which she co-starred in with Nicole Richie, further established her as a global celebrity.
She later expanded into acting, music, reality television, writing and DJing. Her screen credits include House of Wax and Repo! The Genetic Opera, while her television work has included Paris Hilton’s My New BFF, The World According to Paris, Cooking with Paris and Paris in Love.
Hilton has also released a second studio album, Infinite Icon, and continued her career as a DJ and entrepreneur.
