Music maestro AR Rahman paid tribute to legendary singer Asha Bhosle on her 93rd birthday by unveiling Asha Forever, a special musical tribute, in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The event was also attended by Maharashtra minister Ashish Shelar and Asha Bhosle’s granddaughter Zanai Bhosle.
Speaking at the release, Rahman expressed his gratitude to Fadnavis for inviting them and giving his valuable time to the special occasion honouring Asha Bhosle.
“Asha Bhosle was Maharashtra’s and our national pride, she was our greatest strength in taking our music global. Her voice and music transcended every boundary, and it is very special to celebrate her legacy,” Rahman said.
Recorded by Rahman with Asha Bhosle during her lifetime, Asha Forever also features students and musicians from London’s Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. The tribute was filmed in London and Mumbai and has been penned by lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya.
The project carries forward a celebration that was originally envisioned during Asha Bhosle’s lifetime. Released by Rooh Records in India, Asha Forever is available across major music streaming platforms worldwide and is distributed by Warner Music India.
Several celebrities and members of the film and music fraternity also took to social media on Asha Bhosle’s birthday to remember the iconic singer and celebrate her contribution to music.
Singer Kumar Sanu shared an emotional tribute, recalling not only Asha Bhosle’s legendary voice but also the person behind it. He said he felt fortunate to have shared the same musical journey and known her, adding that while her presence would be deeply missed, her music would continue to live on.
Other personalities, including singer Sudesh Bhosle and filmmaker Subhash Ghai, also paid tribute to the legendary artiste.
Asha Bhosle passed away in Mumbai on April 12, 2026, at the age of 92. Her illustrious career spanned more than eight decades, during which she lent her iconic voice to thousands of songs in several languages.
