Weeks after being removed from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), former national coordinator Akash Anand has reaffirmed his loyalty to the party, describing it as his family and BSP supremo Mayawati as his political mentor and inspiration.
In a detailed message addressed to Mayawati and shared on X, Anand dismissed reports and rumours suggesting that he was planning to join another political party, asserting that he had no such intention, either now or in the future.
“I am not joining any other party, neither now nor in the future. The BSP is not merely a political party, but my family,” Anand said.
Describing Mayawati as his “political mentor and inspiration”, Anand said he had learnt everything about politics from her and had undertaken every political responsibility under her guidance.
He also expressed support for Mayawati’s decision to expel Ashok Siddharth from the party and his subsequent announcement of retirement from politics. Anand said the decision was entirely justified and that he stood firmly by it.
While acknowledging the importance of personal relationships, Anand said the interests of the party and the Bahujan movement must take precedence over individual and family considerations.
He said he considered it his responsibility to prioritise the party and the movement over personal relationships and family concerns.
Anand also addressed the controversy surrounding his earlier silence, saying it had been interpreted in different ways and had fuelled speculation and rumours.
He said that if his silence had hurt Mayawati, he was willing to apologise to her again.
Expressing his desire to return to active service within the party, Anand said he wished to work for the BSP and the Bahujan mission once more under Mayawati’s leadership. He said he was seeking only an opportunity to serve the party and the movement under her guidance.
“Trust is built through actions, not words, and I will prove it through my conduct and hard work,” Anand said, adding that he would remain committed to the party’s principles and guidelines.
About a month ago, Mayawati had announced that Akash Anand was being “completely freed” from the party. The decision came shortly after Anand’s father-in-law, former Rajya Sabha member Ashok Siddharth, announced his retirement from politics.
