Amid his expulsion from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), former national coordinator Akash Anand on Friday ruled out joining any other political party, saying the BSP was his family and reaffirming his commitment to party supremo Mayawati and the Bahujan movement.
Addressing Mayawati and the wider Bahujan community, Anand said reports and rumours suggesting that he was planning to join another political party were completely false. He stated that he had neither joined another party nor intended to do so in the future.
Anand said he had learnt everything he knew about politics from Mayawati and had carried out his political responsibilities under her guidance. He said he wanted to clarify his position directly to the BSP chief and the Bahujan community amid speculation circulating in the media and on social media.
“BSP is not just a party for me, it is my family,” Anand said, reiterating that he remained committed to the organisation.
He also backed Mayawati’s decision to expel Ashok Siddharth from the party and said he accepted her decision regarding his retirement from politics. Anand described the decision as appropriate and said he stood by it.
Stressing that the interests of the party and the Bahujan movement were more important than personal relationships, Anand said it was his responsibility to place the organisation’s objectives above personal and family considerations.
Anand also explained why he had not reposted a social media post shared by Mayawati. He said he was away from social media at the time and that his silence had been interpreted in different ways, leading to speculation.
He apologised to Mayawati if his silence had hurt her, while expressing his desire to serve the BSP and the Bahujan mission again under her leadership.
Anand said he was seeking only an opportunity to work for the party and its mission, adding that he would demonstrate his commitment through his actions.
“Trust is built not through words, but through work, and I will prove it through my conduct and hard work,” he said.
Concluding his message, Anand reaffirmed his commitment to the ideological foundations of the BSP and the Bahujan movement, stating, “The mission of Babasaheb Dr BR Ambedkar, the path shown by Manyavar Kanshi Ram and the leadership of Mayawati are my politics.”
