BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Sunday listened to the 138th edition of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’ with party leaders, workers and members of the public at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in New Town, West Bengal.
Nabin was accompanied by West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, state BJP president Samik Bhattacharya and a large number of party leaders and karyakartas during the programme.
Sharing pictures from the event on X, Nabin said ‘Mann Ki Baat’ has become a platform for bringing forward inspiring stories and initiatives from across the country that demonstrate positive change through collective efforts.
The 138th edition of the programme, broadcast on September 27, focused on several issues, including the 10th anniversary of the 2016 surgical strikes, the ongoing Census, India’s cultural heritage, nature conservation and efforts to combat drug abuse.
PM Modi recalled the September 28-29, 2016 surgical strikes and highlighted what he described as India’s counter-terrorism policy. He also urged citizens to participate in the Census, describing it as a national responsibility and highlighting the importance of reliable demographic data for planning and welfare schemes.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva Abhiyan’, a 100-week campaign involving youth, MY Bharat volunteers, NSS members, educational institutions and social and spiritual organisations to promote awareness against drug abuse.
Nabin said the BJP has consistently focused on combating drug abuse and reiterated the party’s stated objective of contributing towards a drug-free India.
The BJP chief’s visit to West Bengal comes as part of his engagements with the party organisation in the state.
