AAP Punjab Media In-charge Baltej Pannu on Sunday invited people from across the state to attend the ‘Jashan-e-Inquilab’ programme at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) ground in Ludhiana on September 28 to mark Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh’s birth anniversary.
The programme, scheduled to begin at 3 p.m., will celebrate Punjab’s cultural heritage, music and history while remembering the sacrifices of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru. The event’s September 28 date and PAU venue have also been announced by the AAP.
Addressing a press conference, Pannu said the event would bring together Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, ministers, MLAs and people from across Punjab. He appealed to families to participate in the celebration and help younger generations remain connected with Punjab’s history and cultural heritage.
He said the programme would feature the play ‘Gagan Damama Bajio’, along with performances by Punjabi artists including Ranjit Bawa and Kulwinder Billa and prominent dhadi jathas.
Remembering Punjab’s revolutionary legacy, Pannu said Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru would be honoured through the programme. He particularly urged young people to learn about the sacrifices of the martyrs and take pride in Punjab’s history.
Pannu also appealed to turbaned Punjabis to attend wearing yellow turbans as a symbol of the celebration. He said the event would showcase Punjab’s music, traditions and cultural identity and promote the vision of a “Rangla Punjab”.
Highlighting youth participation in sports, Pannu cited recent marathons in Punjab and said around 25,000 young men and women had participated in a marathon in Bathinda. He said the state government had been promoting sports and constructive activities since 2022.
He claimed that 3,100 sports grounds were being developed across Punjab, with around 750 already completed, and cited initiatives such as ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan’ and youth runs as platforms for young people.
On agriculture and public services, Pannu claimed that canal-water utilisation in Punjab had risen from around 22 per cent to over 88 per cent under the Bhagwant Mann government. He also highlighted the government’s claims regarding 600 units of free electricity every two months, cashless healthcare coverage of up to Rs 10 lakh under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna and the role of the Sadak Surakhya Force in responding to road accidents.
Pannu said the government’s focus on sports, culture and public participation was aimed at creating positive opportunities for Punjab’s youth and reconnecting them with the state’s identity.
He appealed to people across Punjab to reach the PAU ground with their families on September 28 and join the celebrations remembering Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru.
