Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Guru Purnima transferred Rs 250 crore through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system to more than 40 lakh students studying in Classes 1 to 8 for the purchase of free school uniforms, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to ensuring accessible and quality education for every child.
Addressing a state-level function at Khedli Gurjar in Bharatpur district’s Weir tehsil, the Chief Minister said the initiative was aimed at strengthening school education while promoting foundational literacy and creating a positive learning environment. He said the government was focused on translating its commitments into action and ensuring that welfare schemes reached beneficiaries efficiently.
Sharma said the state was working towards inclusive development in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.” He highlighted the government’s employment initiatives, stating that over 1.78 lakh youths had secured government jobs during the past two-and-a-half years, while recruitment was underway for more than 1.32 lakh vacancies. Preparations had also begun to fill another 70,000 posts. He added that recruitment had been conducted transparently and that strict action had been taken against those involved in paper leak cases.
Highlighting welfare measures, the Chief Minister said nearly one crore beneficiaries had been covered under the Food Security Scheme. He also referred to the enhanced social security pension of Rs 1,450 per month, free sonography services for pregnant women under the Ma Voucher scheme, efforts to create Lakhpati Didis, and financial assistance of Rs 9,000 annually to farmers under the Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, including the state’s additional contribution.
The Chief Minister said the government was also accelerating major infrastructure and water projects, including the Ramjal Setu Link Project, the Yamuna Water Agreement and the Dewas Project, besides developing new expressways to improve connectivity and boost economic growth.
During the programme, Sharma inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for education-related projects worth more than Rs 691 crore. He also launched the Mission Padho Rajasthan Reading Promotion Campaign, released the NIPUN Calendar, distributed tablets to visually impaired students and honoured teachers for their contribution to education.
In addition, he inaugurated and laid foundation stones for infrastructure projects worth over Rs 1,186 crore in Bharatpur and Deeg districts, covering roads, electricity and drainage works. He also performed the bhoomi pujan for a Girls’ Sainik School at Khedli Gurjar and participated in a tree plantation drive.
Responding to local demands, the Chief Minister announced the inclusion of Bhusawar in the Braj Regional Development Plan, extending the scope of integrated development in the region.
Education Minister Madan Dilawar, who also addressed the gathering, said the establishment of a Girls’ Sainik School reflected the government’s commitment to empowering girls. He also praised teachers for improving academic performance in government schools across Rajasthan.
