Abuse Isn’t a Strategy, Hate Cannot Build Nation: Kerala BJP Chief Rajeev Chandrasekhar

New Delhi, July 29, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Kerala BJP President Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Wednesday said democratic criticism and disagreement are essential parts of public life but warned against what he described as the growing use of abusive language and hatred in political discourse.

In a post on social media platform X, Chandrasekhar accused the Opposition of encouraging young people to replace constructive debate with anger and confrontation for political gains.

“Question the system? Always. Disagree? Absolutely. That’s democracy,” Chandrasekhar wrote, underlining that differing opinions and debates form the foundation of a democratic society.

However, he drew a distinction between legitimate dissent and abusive behaviour, stating, “But abuse isn’t a strategy, and hate doesn’t build careers or transform a nation.”

The former Union minister said it was concerning to see young people being influenced by aggressive political messaging instead of being encouraged to participate in constructive discussions.

“Our youth deserve support, opportunity and a path to build the nation of their dreams – not one that leads to anarchy, chaos and violence,” he said, ending his message with the appeal, “Reject anarchy.”

His remarks came amid a political debate over recent student protests and questions surrounding the limits of activism and public demonstrations.

Chandrasekhar also shared a video from a recent student protest in which some individuals were seen using inappropriate language.

Earlier, he had criticised student protesters and urged students and parents to carefully consider the political groups they support. Sharing an old social media post by Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) national spokesperson Saurav Das about former JNU student leader Umar Khalid, along with a photograph showing the two together, Chandrasekhar said students with genuine concerns should be cautious about the people they align with.

He alleged that some groups were pursuing divisive politics and said young people should remain focused on building their future and contributing to the country’s development.
